Gabriella Bascelli is the project coordinator for the European Day of Care. An EU co-funded project based on social inclusion aimed at re-integrating ex-athletes into the community by supporting their academic and professional growth.

Gabriella was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa and subsequently moved to Rome, Italy in 1999 to pursue her athletic career wearing the colours of the multisport and rowing club S.S. Lazio. Gabriella is one of the few athletes that has never changed clubs during her professional athletic career remaining faithful to her white and blue Lazio colours whilst winning a total of 23 Italian National titles for Lazio. She also participated in the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and has won gold, silver and bronze medals at both the European Championships and at the World Championships.

Upon completing both her degrees in Interior Design and BA in Political Sciences and International Relations, Gabriella has decided to dedicate her professional working career to the Società Sportiva Lazio and the European Multisport Club Association. Her objective is to learn about all the different types of sport, promoting all kinds of sports and the positive values that sport has to offer.

It is with much gratitude that Gabriella thanks the European Union for the focus they have on sport, as if it was not for this, these projects which are so valuable to all those that are fortunate enough to take part in them, would not be possible.
